A Message from our Headteacher

Mr Maloney
Welcome to New Longton All Saints’ Church of England Primary School’s website. At NLAS, we are all extremely proud of our school, its ethos and the amazing children and families that make us so unique. We hope our website will give you an informative snapshot of life at our brilliant school whether you are a current parent, a child at our school or a prospective parent looking for the right school for your child.
Every day is an Open Day for us, so if you are thinking of booking a visit, please ring the School Office and we will be happy to arrange a tour for you.
New Longton All Saints’ is a great Church of England primary school which serves the local community of New Longton. Children enjoy being here and they are at the centre of everything we do. We are proud of our children and staff and we are committed to providing the best quality education rooted in Christian care, that we can – that’s “the All Saints’ Way”.
We were graded as ‘Good’ overall by OFSTED in November 2019 with our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team retaining ‘Outstanding’. Ofsted commented on our deeply embedded values and how proud the children were of both their learning and our school.
Children’s well-being is at the centre of our approach here and we pride ourselves in our family ethos. Our curriculum is broad, varied and personalised to the needs of our pupils needs and that of our local community, ensuring that it is relevant and up to date. We seek to add enriching experiences for children that invoke a love for learning that lasts beyond their time here, affording children the opportunity to experience a range of activities such as: lead initiatives, perform at whole school events, undertake residential trips, hold positions of responsibility, access a wide range of clubs and experiences and develop into well-rounded and responsible citizens. For more information about our curriculum and the drivers which underpin it, please visit the Our Curriculum page.
Our attainment is excellent at each Key Stage and is above national averages (more information can be found on the Results page of the website). We provide a creative, broad and varied curriculum, productions, a variety of clubs, educational visits and visitors. Our Worship Warriors, School Council and Eco Council, Sports Leaders, Librarians and House Captains give the pupils an important voice within school.
As a Church of England Primary School, we have strong links with Blackburn Diocese, All Saints’ Church, New Longton and other churches in our community and we try to provide children with a range of services in church celebrating our Christian festivals. We are blessed that our Vicar, Tom, leads a weekly act of worship in school and supports us through not only this, but also through his chaplaincy. We have excellent links with All Saints’ church and these continue to deepen.
From September 2021, we will have 213 children on roll in single-aged classes. Over the last few years, we have had extensive building work to improve our learning environment. Our latest project was the renovation of our old ICT Suite into a Confidence Hub and some renovations around our grounds. We spend time ensuring that our school has the very best resources and learning spaces available for our children, making use of our skilled staff members and our supportive families to support us in providing excellent facilities. Our very active PTFA (Parents, Teachers & Friends Association) has paid for an outdoor prayer space, new library books, brand new 65” touchscreens for all classes, a willow ‘Mouse House’ and all the markings in the outdoor area which the children enjoy playing in and much more besides.
We’re also proud of our flagship forest school site, which was designed by children in school and completed with the support of Brockholes Nature Reserve and our parents and staff. Forest School sessions are an integral part of our curriculum and we are pleased to be able to use it to enhance our excellent educational offer.
If you need any extra information or would like a tour of the school, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our fantastic team via the details in the footer of this page.
