Welcome to Year Three!
This year we will be covering lots of exciting topics such as ‘Rock and Roll’, ‘Healthy Humans’, ‘What the Romans Did For us’, ‘How Does Your Garden Grow?’ and ‘The Iron Man’. Our first topic is ‘There’s No Place Like Home’, where we will be building on our Year 2 experiences and mapping our local area.

Some useful information…
Curriculum Overview
Year 3 Half termly curriculum overview Autumn 2P.E Days
Our P.E. days are Thursday (outdoor) and Friday (indoor). Half of the class will go swimming on Friday, in their P.E. lesson. Children should come in to school in their P.E. kits on these days.
Homework Diaries
Children must bring their Homework Diary to school every day. Reading books will be sent home daily. Your child is welcome to choose a book from the school or class library to read alongside their banded book. Children complete their own diaries. We would like parents to continue to use the diary as a communication tool and write comments about children’s reading.
Spellings
Spellings will be sent home on Monday and will be tested in school on Fridays. These will be a mixture of words from the rule that we have been exploring in class as well as a selection of words from the Year 3 and 4 statutory spellings list.
Homework
In addition to reading, children will have weekly spellings and times tables to complete. We will begin by learning x2, x5, x10, x3 and x4 tables, moving on to x8 in the summer. It is expected that children use Times Tables Rock Stars, 3 times a week as part of their homework.
