Our Pastoral Team
At NLAS, we are fully committed to supporting children and families in as many ways as possible. We are fortunate to have a team of experienced and knowledgeable staff who are here to assist you, and your children in a variety of ways.
In addition to working with individual families, the Pastoral Team also organises parenting courses or events on a variety of issues, some in response to issues that arise, some in response to parental requests and some of general interest.

Mrs Turner is our PSA (Parent Support Adviser) and is available to support you, confidentially, in a number of ways such as: Parental/ Family concerns; School lateness/Attendance; Behaviour Management; Transition (moving) through schools; Emotional wellbeing; Parent confidence building; Bullying; Child/ Parent relationship breakdown; and so on. Mrs Turner is a qualified ELSA staff member, who works with children supporting them in overcoming barriers to learning. She is also a HLTA and works in Year 6. Mrs Percival is our Learning Mentor and a qualified ELSA staff member, who is on hand to support children in school who are in need. She liaises with the class teachers and, with the support of the Pastoral Team, identifies resources and approaches that will benefit those children who need it. She has experience working with children with additional needs and regularly liaises with our SENCo. Mrs Percival is also our Year 5 class TA. Her email address is pastoral@newlongton.lancs.sch.uk

Mrs Lang is our Forest School Leader and will be planning and leading forest school sessions which will be planned to enable children to overcome barriers to learning and develop resilience and independence.
