About

Vision & Ethos

Guided by God’s light, we aim to Experience, Enjoy and Excel

At New Longton All Saints’, we will be guided by God’s light, ensuring our Christian values inform our approach to all areas of school life. Our children will experience a richly rewarding school life, at the heart of the local community, through a varied curriculum and a range of enrichening extracurricular activities. Our children will enjoy time at school, becoming socially intelligent, emotionally mature, and mentally resilient. Our children will excel in pursuing their passions and deepening their skills, through the provision of excellent and well-resourced and supported teaching.

John 8:12 Jesus said,

“I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.”

Matthew 5:14 Jesus said,

“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.”

“The pursuit of the very best and broadest outcomes for all young people defines education driven by a Christian vision – this is life in all its fulness.”

Called, Connected, Committed (Ford & Wolfe, 2020)

Our vision is rooted in the Christian belief that we must model Jesus’ teachings and act as he would want us to. Our vision inspires us to make God’s Kingdom here on Earth, through our actions and our attitudes. Our ethos and vision support our pupils, families and staff to flourish and work together to live life in all its fulness (John 10:10).

We learn and improve together, through our broad and challenging curriculum which supports children in shining as God’s light through its richness, variety and inclusivity, allowing them to develop into fully rounded, empathetic and considerate people who strive to improve not just for themselves, but for others. By serving others, we empower and enable them, and us, to flourish. It builds trust and deepens our desire to serve more. At NLAS, we support children in becoming advocates, thinking of others and providing opportunities for them to lead change in a number of roles from Worship Warriors to Play Leaders.

Our School Prayer

With the support of Rev’d Tom, we wrote our school prayer to amplify our vision, so that the children understand it more fully. We talk about how we shine through our actions and our attitudes and we try and “catch the light” from others.

O Lord, guide us by Your Light that we might
Experience life in its fulness, Enjoy our time at school,
And Excel in all we do as we shine as Your Light in the world.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
