Key Information

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funding is additional funding given to schools to support pupils who are eligible.  There are a variety of reasons why your child may be entitled to this funding which includes:

  • If they are on Free School Meals or have been at any point in the last 6 years
  • If they are a Looked After Child (in the care of the Local Authority)
  • If they have previously been a Looked After Child and are now adopted from care or are under a Special Guardianship Order or a Child Arrangements Order or a Residence Order
  • If they have a parent in the military or has been in the military over the past 5 years or are in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence

Pupil Premium At NLAS

Pupil Premium funding is provided to schools to support children who are currently eligible for Free School Meals, as well as those who have previously been eligible within the last six years (“Ever 6”). This funding is paid directly to the school and is carefully monitored to ensure it enhances pupils’ teaching, learning and overall school experience.

We are passionate about ensuring that our Pupil Premium pupils are well supported through a range of targeted strategies, which are regularly reviewed by Senior Leaders and Governors. These strategies are evidence-based, with school leaders drawing on national research as well as evaluating approaches previously used within our school to assess their impact and effectiveness for our children.

In our school, Pupil Premium funding is primarily used to provide additional staffing, targeted learning support, pastoral care and access to specialist resources.

In addition, we recognise that this funding can also help reduce financial barriers for families. Where appropriate, we may use it to support the cost of school uniform, trips and residential visits, as well as provide enrichment opportunities such as after-school clubs and healthy snacks or toast. We also have a chrome book loan scheme to support children with completing online homework. Our aim is to ensure every child can fully access all aspects of school life and achieve their full potential. Families eligible for  this funding are encouraged to contact the school to discuss how this support can best meet their child’s needs.
